View Case Study

Create a website that’s about the Satyamev Jayate show but also has an independent personality.

The Satyamev Jayate website needed to function not just as an extension of the TV show but also as an independent entity with a shelf life beyond that of the show. The aim was to incubate the viewer participation and engagement and take it to the next level of tackling social issues. For this purpose, the UI had to be welcoming, user friendly for content consumption and discussion and trigger increased engagement. The designs had to be responsive for a seamless experience across devices. An episode-centric approach was adopted, discussion were made more relevant by grouping episode specific comments. Notifications like ‘Recent Updates’, ‘Subscriptions’, ‘Donate’ and ‘Upload Your Story’ were also added. Additionally, all the content on the website was made shareable via social media. The ‘Vote for Change’ feature allowed people to get directly involved in resolving social issues by signing petitions and ‘Your Stories’ allowed viewers to narrate their personal experiences. The ‘Impact’ section amplified the changes brought about by the show, thereby reiterating the need and effect of public participation.

Why this project is worthy of a UX Award:

Website visitor count touched 0.6 million in just one month. New visitors comprised 85.1% whereas repeat visitors constituted 14.9%. In two months, visitor count touched 1.5 million wherein 66.8% were new visitors and 33.2% were repeat visitors. The analytics clearly establish that through the compelling calls-to-action, hard-hitting infographics and the ease of donating to the causes the show supports, the site helps complete the overall initiatives of the revolutionary social campaign of Satyamev Jayate.
