The 2012 Awards submissions are closed- thanks for all the great entries!
MISSION
The aim of the awards is to significantly raise the stature, understanding and awareness of User Experience. User Experience is a critical part of the Internet and software development process and an essential element for success for any technology product or service in an ever-more-sophisticated consumer marketplace. How does a technology offering stand out from the crowd of iPhone apps or competitor websites and services in 2011 and beyond? How does one digital product or service generate significantly higher user engagement and customer satisfaction than another? It all comes down to great UX.
User Experience (UX) is about cr eating (digital) experiences that are optimized for the user. This means understanding who the users are and what they want and need, and then creating products and services that deliver against those needs. Good UX is “invisible”; things “just work.” Good UX delivers experiences that are intuitive, useful, clear, and also support the business.
UX is frequently mis-categorized under “design.” While good functional design is an essential part of good user experience, user experience goes far beyond visual design (layouts and styles) to incorporate product and business strategy, effective implementation of technology, valuable content, logical user interactions, and particularly usability – ease of use, adoption of emerging standards, intuitive navigation, and efficacy for the user in being able to accomplish his/her target goals. Read more about UX, what it is and its value.

REVIEW PROCESS
Jurors will be reviewing the submissions based on their own expertise and experience. Given the diverse range of backgrounds of the jurors, each will be reviewing the submissions based on different priorities. For some, usability might be preeminent; for others, success at achieving the stated project or business goals might be most important. The night of the event, each juror will explain his/her priorities and what influenced his/her decisions. Final award winners will be chosen through collective decision-making across all jurors through a “crowdsourced,” yet closed, process. Please refer to SUBMISSIONS for more information on what to emphasize in your submissions.
