Skyscanner is the no. 1 independent travel search site worldwide, and its iOS app is the flagship mobile service for both iPhone and iPad. Previous versions of the app have served their users very well, but focused on the immediate business domain of the service - limiting its potential. The UX team was challenged to understand the wider needs of users and to design the features that would support them. Through concerted effort, regular usability testing, rigorous user research, and close collaboration with the agile development team, the team delivered a new version of the Skyscanner iOS App that addresses the widest range of user needs across the whole travel experience – unlocking the true potential of the Skyscanner service. As a result, not only has the latest version earned the highest ratings from its users, but it has also succeeded in achieving higher conversion rates than its predecessor.
