Patients are becoming more engaged in their healthcare decision making, and Mayo Clinic is listening and responding. One of the requests we hear is for users to be able to access and understand the medical advances being made at Mayo Clinic, to engage with ongoing clinical trials, and to connect people with the scientists generating this knowledge.



Patients are becoming more engaged in their healthcare decision making, and Mayo Clinic is listening and responding. One of the requests we hear is for users to be able to access and understand the medical advances being made at Mayo Clinic, to engage with ongoing clinical trials, and to connect people with the scientists generating this knowledge. This project, by Mayo Clinic's Global Business Solutions division, delivered a user experience strategy, narrative design, visual identity and three releases of an implementation to address these needs, and to communicate the benefits of cutting-edge medical research.

Project phases were Research, Strategy & Planning, Content & Video Production, Iterative Implementation (3 releases). Total project time from initiation through GoLive was 6 months. The multi-disciplinary project team at it largest (20+ people) was comprised of representatives from 10 departments, and led by UX designers. Stakeholders included the highest levels of Mayo Clinic Medical Research, as well as 11 different Medical Research subcommittees. This project intended to: - Help users relate to advanced medical science and its application to diseases, conditions, and treatments. - Allow for easy enrollment in clinical trials - Clarify the user path to find researchers who actually carry out the research. - Improve access to Mayo Clinic research facilities on a local level. - Improve the general user experience of the medical research section of the Mayo Clinic website. - Differentiate Mayo Clinic medical research division visually.
