Breadcrumb POS by Upserve helps Masala Box streamline restaurant services and increase sales from food delivery.
Masala Box is an Indian fusion restaurant located in Bayside, Queens, New York – one of the hottest but most competitive restaurant locations in the country. In order to stay competitive, it expanded its offering outside the restaurant’s doors to include take out, delivery and catering. Masala Box signed on to use Breadcrumb POS by Upserve because, while other POS systems on the market were too expensive and didn’t meet the requirements of the restaurant, Breadcrumb POS by Upserve was reliable and easy to use.
However, online orders presented a big issue because they had to be entered manually. The server would first have to accept the online order, print out the order on a separate piece of paper, open a new tab on the POS system and enter in the entire order from the start – leaving room for human error. Upserve recognized this as a huge issue for Masala Box – and restaurants everywhere – so in 2017 Upserve partnered with GrubHub, which enabled Breadcrumb POS systems to easily integrate GrubHub software into the machines. The partnership between Breadcrumb POS by Upserve and GrubHub made it possible for restaurants like Masala Box to quickly and effortlessly place online delivery orders through its existing Breadcrumb POS system. The POS and online delivery system merge together so that servers can manage everything in one place. The server no longer has to double enter the order and system itself is intuitive and easy to use.
Because of Breadcrumb POS by Upserve, the volume of Masala Box customers increased and, even on days when the front of the house was slow, the kitchen stayed busy fulfilling orders for customers who wanted to eat at home. Breadcrumb POS by Upserve had a major impact on Masala Box’s bottom line by giving time back to the staff, giving the kitchen concise orders and ensuring that online delivery orders were accurate.

Restaurant owners are dealing with many disparate partners and pieces of technology to manage their business, like POS systems, menu management, server schedules and more. It can get to the point where managers are spending all their time dealing with each of these systems and can’t properly manage the restaurant. In order to make managing a restaurant easier and more intuitive, Upserve created a software platform to make it much easier, simpler and intuitive for managers to manage their restaurants. In many cases, the biggest leap is just to connect the dots between each of these services, but it’s essential to create a marketplace and forge partnerships. The Grubhub integration is one such example of how Upserve is forging partnerships to make running a restaurant both easier and to ensure a better experience for customers. Upserve recognized a major issue occurring in the restaurant industry – online delivery was busier than ever, and restaurants needed to be able to use software compatible with their POS systems to seamlessly place delivery orders.
Upserve customers using Breadcrumb POS by Upserve have noticed a positive change in the way they process takeout and delivery orders. This POS system improved delivery time, ensured orders were precise and correct and smoothed the process of onsite restaurant operations, making the kitchen and serving process easier.
