Allstate Digital Locker is a web and mobile application (iPhone, Android) that enables customers to create a personalized home inventory of property that includes photos, estimated value and other details along with a personal profile for secure data storage. Extensive user experience testing revealed that people wanted a flexible, cross-platform approach to the inventory process. As a result, we designed a system with multiple ways to capture information, including taking a photo of a room and tagging items, entering items individually or even Googling your property to find its value. The Digital Locker synchronizes between iOS, Android and the desktop ensuring that if users lose a computer or phone in a catastrophic event, they have an easy roadmap to recovery.
IQ designed three independent platforms (Web, iPhone, and Android) which all integrate with the same cloud service backend. The three platforms were designed in multiple iterations. The first iteration commencing in August 2010 for the web application and the second iteration for web updates and the mobile applications in the spring and summer of 2011. Each iteration includes improved functionality and new features. Both mobile applications have the ability to store data locally on the device until the user has a data connection and their data can be synchronized with the web. The biggest feats for us from technology were: - Building 3 platforms at the same time (web, iPhone, Android) as well as the supporting backend - The custom mobile syncing implementation built to allow for offline usage and syncing with the cloud
