LCDS is based on systematic building blocks that aim to create reusable, customizable, extensible cross platform products with ease.
Layer Conversation Design System (LCDS) is based on systematic building blocks that aim to create reusable, customizable, extensible cross platform products with ease. LCDS is not a linear process, design kit or a template, but a mental model that forms a set of tools to ease scalable, coherent and consistent experiences across channels.
LCDS is composed of 5 distinct stages, working together as a whole to achieve that: Assets, Elements, Components, Modules, and Pages.
LCDS was created to make building conversation experience through messaging
(1) adhere to the different form factor and functionality of the device,
(2) easily customizable to the company's branding,
(3) compliant with Layer's UI framework and messaging infrastructure, and
(4) with engaging interactive cardsEvery unit is designed as Symbols on Sketch. They follow a certain naming convention to ease structuring and organization.
- Why this project is worthy of a UX Award:
There is a difference between designing a pretty UX vs. designing a system to multiply that beautiful UX. The later is what this Layer Conversation Design System enables. Designers from rising stars studying design to expert UX designers can use this system to create unique UX experience for brands. And most importantly, the system is compliant for the UI framework so that the designs created can be implementable.
